Video Review – Nancy Duarte’s “Resonate”

After a few days ill, I’ve come back with authority in my review for Nancy Duarte’s Resonate (affiliate link). I realize it’s long, long overdue, but I’ve honestly been using it, re-reading it, and continually learning from it so I haven’t really felt like I’ve finished the book. I may never feel that way.

So take a look at my video review. I offer three reasons why Resonate is so unique and why I consider it one of my Top 3 presentation design books of all time.

**I know the video glitches every once in a while. I apologize for that. Every time my computer went dim apparently the video stopped recording (but the audio stayed strong!) and then for some non-rational reason the video just speeds to catch up. So please stick with it and have a great week.

Good stuff. Funny coincidence that I just picked up Resonate earlier this week, along with GR’s Naked Presenter and Presentation Zen Design. In what order should I read them, in your opinion? I read Presentation Zen but it’s been a while.

Benjamin Zander is phenomenal. Just saw his TED talk a few weeks ago and saw him live as a keynote at a conference a few years ago.

BTW: Nancy didn’t create spark lines. If I am not mistaken, it was Edward Tufte. If not Tufte, you wouldn’t know it in attending one of his all-day seminars.

Agree Geof, I attribute the sparkline as a data-type to Tufte in the intro. Good catch!

Thanks for that clarification Geof! It didn’t dawn on me until I was giving the review that I couldn’t remember where the sparklines originated.

          confirmed: Edward Tufte’s Beautiful Evidence

My pleasure. Sorry it took so long.

Nancy’s work is so great! I was watching a video the other day of her talk at TEDxEast http://bit.ly/eScoBV …brilliant!

I like the video for the book review, I think it gives a clearer picture of what the book is about. You should do more videos Jon!

I wish it didn’t have so many glitches! But it was late and I couldn’t do another take. At least the audio stayed strong.

Since Nancy replied, I’ll read her book first. ;)

      Good choice!

I’ve been through the book twice and it recently helped me with a massive project that took about 2 months to complete. Without Nancy’s guidence, I’m positive the finished project would not have created the same energy and enthusiasm. I couldn’t recommend this book more.
