Most of my posts are around the 750 word mark. For some, that might be too long and it means I put in nearly two hours of work to craft a post. In order to provide you with content more often, I’m starting a series of posts published on Tuesdays with quick, consumable presentation tips. Here’s the first!
It’s commonplace for a presenter to start with an introduction. However, these can quickly become boring and mundane. They’re almost a repetition of a resume.
While I won’t tell you what is or isn’t important, here’s a way to spice up your introduction – make sure you include a few unique bits of information. Pull back the curtain and let your audience in and show them who you really are.
In my bio I make sure to note how big of an ice cream fan I am. You have no idea how much of a conversation starter I am, especially if I’m speaking locally.
If you’d like to learn more about creating a unique bio and truly unearthing your story, check out my friend Michael Margolis’ site Get Storied, particularly his new course entitled New About Me. He’ll help you reinvent your bio into a story.
So – what makes you, you?
